Cranial Facial Release (CFR)

Specialized nasal and cranial technique for sinus issues, breathing problems, and structural alignment—Dallas chiropractor.

Cranial Facial Release (CFR) is a specialized technique that uses gentle pressure applied inside the nasal passages to help expand and mobilize cranial bones and sinuses. While it might sound unusual, it's highly effective for sinus congestion, breathing issues, headaches, structural asymmetry, and other head and facial conditions. At CoreHealth Wellness Center in Dallas, we offer CFR for patients who need this specialized approach.

What is Cranial Facial Release

CFR is based on the principle that the bones of the skull and face can become restricted or misaligned, affecting sinus drainage, breathing, and even facial symmetry. Using very specific hand positions and gentle pressure applied inside the nasal passages, the technique mobilizes these bones and helps them return to optimal position. The result: improved sinus drainage, easier breathing, reduced headaches, and sometimes improved facial structure and appearance.

What conditions benefit from CFR

Chronic sinus congestion; post-nasal drip; sleep apnea or snoring; breathing difficulties not caused by asthma; chronic headaches originating from sinus or cranial tension; TMJ dysfunction affecting the jaw and temples; migraines triggered by sinus or tension patterns; deviated septum symptoms (when bone/cartilage misalignment contributes); facial asymmetry or cosmetic concerns related to bone position; and structural issues affecting breathing or sinus function.

How CFR feels

The sensation is often described as 'firm pressure'—not pain, not tickling, just controlled pressure. The active portion of the treatment lasts 1–2 seconds. During that brief moment, you might feel pressure in your sinuses, or a sensation of movement or release. Afterward, many patients immediately experience: cleared sinuses and easier breathing; a sense of spaciousness in the face and head; sometimes improved mental clarity. The relief can be dramatic—especially for people with chronic congestion.

Is CFR safe

Yes. The technique is gentle and specific. Nasal passages are delicate, so treatment is performed with extreme care. No force is used—only controlled pressure. Bleeding or damage is extremely rare. The risk is minimal when performed by a trained practitioner. We will not perform CFR on anyone with recent nasal surgery, severe nasal polyps, or certain medical conditions—we screen carefully beforehand.

Treatment protocol and timeline

Optimal results typically come from a series: multiple treatments spaced closely together (often 3–4 sessions within 7–10 days, or sometimes two in one day). This concentrated approach allows the bones to reposition and stabilize. Many people feel improvement after the first session—but the full benefit appears after completing the series. Some people require 2–3 series (spaced weeks apart) for complete resolution. Others see full resolution in one series. The pattern depends on severity and how long the problem has existed.

Results and what to expect after

Immediately after: most people experience clearer sinuses and easier breathing, lasting hours to days. After a series: sinus congestion often remains cleared for weeks or months. Sleep and energy improve. Headaches decrease or resolve. Breathing becomes noticeably easier. Some patients report that deviated-septum symptoms improve (though we're not restructuring cartilage or bone permanently—we're restoring better positioning and function). Results are often surprising and very satisfying.

Combining CFR with other care

CFR often works synergistically with other chiropractic care. Neck alignment affects sinus drainage. Upper-cervical adjustments improve sinus function. Some patients benefit from CFR plus cervical adjustment for optimal results. We discuss this during evaluation.

Is CFR right for you

If you have chronic sinus issues, breathing problems, headaches, or structural concerns that haven't responded to conventional approaches, CFR might be the answer. A consultation will determine whether your case is suitable. Many patients who've suffered with sinus or breathing issues for years find dramatic relief through CFR.

If you're struggling with sinus congestion, breathing issues, or chronic headaches, call CoreHealth Wellness at (214) 219-3300 to schedule a consultation. We'll evaluate your case and determine whether CFR is the right approach. For out-of-town patients, intensive treatment protocols (multiple sessions in one day or a compressed timeframe) are available.
