Therapy

Complementary therapies—hydromassage, traction, and cold laser—that enhance adjustment and accelerate healing.

At CoreHealth Wellness Center in Dallas, adjustment is often the foundation of care, but it's rarely the whole story. We pair adjustments with specialized therapies that relax muscles, decompress the spine, reduce inflammation, and accelerate healing. These modalities work synergistically with adjustment, allowing deeper results and faster recovery.

Hydromassage and hydrotherapy

Our hydromassage table is like a Jacuzzi meets a waterbed. You lie fully clothed on a warm roller bed. Gentle jets of heated water pulse across your back and legs, creating therapeutic massage. The warmth relaxes tight muscles. The pulsing motion increases circulation and reduces tension. Most people find it deeply relaxing—some fall asleep. Sessions last 15–20 minutes and leave you feeling loose, warm, and ready for adjustment. Hydrotherapy is especially useful before adjustment (it preps muscles for mobilization), for recovery between training sessions, and for stress-driven tension.

Intersegmental traction

Traction uses a specialized table with rollers underneath. These rollers apply gentle, rhythmic stretching from your lower back upward. The stretching opens space between vertebrae, reduces disc pressure, and decompresses irritated nerves. The relaxation phase allows nutrients to flow back into the discs. The whole process is painless and deeply relaxing—like having your spine slowly, gently stretched. Traction is especially effective for disc pain, stenosis, and chronic stiffness. A typical session is 15–20 minutes. Most courses involve 8–12 sessions over 4–6 weeks.

Cold laser therapy

Cold laser (also called low-level laser therapy or LLLT) uses specific wavelengths of light to stimulate healing at the cellular level. The laser probe is placed against the skin over the injured area. The light penetrates through tissue without producing heat or pain. At the cellular level, light stimulates mitochondria, reduces inflammation, increases circulation, and triggers the body's natural healing response. It's particularly effective for: joint disorders (knee, shoulder, elbow pain), low back pain and disc issues, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendinitis, and post-surgical healing.

How cold laser works

The light photons are absorbed by cells, stimulating energy production (ATP) within mitochondria. This energy boost accelerates healing, reduces inflammation, and quiets nerve irritation. The process is cumulative—effects build with each session. Cold laser typically requires a course of 6–12 sessions, spaced a few days apart. Some patients see results in 2–3 sessions; others need the full course. Sessions take 10–15 minutes and are painless.

Benefits of combining therapies

Hydrotherapy relaxes muscles, making adjustment more effective and comfortable. Traction decompresses the spine, reducing nerve pressure and disc strain. Cold laser reduces inflammation and accelerates healing. Together, they create a powerful recovery environment. Your spinal pain resolves faster. Your motion returns sooner. Your function improves more completely. Recovery from injury or surgery is significantly faster with combined care than with adjustment alone.

What conditions respond best to therapy modalities

Disc-related pain (bulges, herniations, degeneration); spinal stenosis; muscle tension and trigger points; arthritis in joints; tendinitis; post-surgical pain and stiffness; sports injuries; stress-driven muscle tightness; chronic pain; and inflammation from overuse. Any case where we need to reduce inflammation, increase mobility, accelerate healing, or relax protective muscle tension.

Timeline and expected results

You'll notice changes quickly. Hydrotherapy's relaxation effect is immediate. Traction's decompression effect starts within the first session. Cold laser's cumulative effect builds over 2–3 sessions. Combined with adjustment, most acute cases resolve in 3–6 sessions. Chronic cases take longer but show steady, measurable progress.
